Light - Eyes assume light travels in a straight line. Locate the image after TIR

Answer: Option A


The real ray that enters into our eyes due to total internal reflection (TIR) from object D. For TIR to occur, i > c and the light is travelling from an optically denser medium (water) towards a less dense medium (air).


But to locate the image, the key concept here is to look at the last real ray. Our eyes and brain assume that light travels in a straight line, so we will assume the virtual image of the object is straight further down, extended from the last ray entering the eye (reflected ray from object D due to TIR).
