Why Capable JC Students Still Lose Marks in H2 Mathematics
A strong Secondary or A-Math student usually already knows that Mathematics requires understanding and practice. The jump at H2 is different: the level of mathematical decision-making rises sharply. Students must recognise what a question is really testing, select an efficient approach, connect ideas across topics and sustain accurate working through longer solutions.

Mr Sng Tat Ming
Former TJC teacher Mr Sng Tat Ming has over 19 years of Mathematics teaching experience and an MSc from NTU. He is an invited author of GCE A-Level TYS solutions for H1/H2 Mathematics (2015–2024), as well as an author of H2 Mathematics guidebooks and learning materials.

Mr Charles Ho
Mr Charles Ho taught at RJC and is a PSC Teaching Scholarship holder. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and an MBA from NUS, with over 18 years of teaching experience. Who is JC Mathematics tuition suitable for?
It is designed for JC students taking H2 Mathematics who need stronger conceptual understanding, problem-solving fluency and structured preparation for school and A-Level assessments.
What should students practise for H2 Mathematics?
Students should practise both Pure Mathematics and Statistics topics in their school syllabus, with emphasis on selecting efficient methods, showing clear working, checking answers and handling unfamiliar applications.
Are worked solutions and practice materials provided?

Can I take H2 Mathematics without O-Level Additional Mathematics?
It may be possible depending on the JC, but the transition can be demanding because H2 Mathematics assumes knowledge from Additional Mathematics. Students should check their JC's subject requirements and bridge any assumed-knowledge gaps early.
How should students reduce careless mistakes in H2 Mathematics?
Use structured working, avoid unnecessary mental steps, check signs and domains, substitute answers where practical and leave time for verification. Error analysis is more useful than simply redoing large numbers of questions.
